On Episode 117, the Turf District welcomed Duane and Lauren from the Grey Cup Festival.
The Grey Cup is Canada’s Largest annual sporting event and boy, is it a fun one! From coast to coast, different allegiances and different fan groups all gather together for one heck of a party, trading jokes and getting along; that is, until game time!
Tickets? Seat sales are going very well, and the Festival is aiming to beat the old record of ticket sell-outs once open to the public (June 1st). The current record of 2010 saw tickets go on sale June 1 & were sold out by June 6.
Ticket prices have not increased exponentially. On average, the increase has been $25 per section.
More families have voiced their growing excitement and interest in attending the 106th Grey Cup. Duane and Lauren expressed their desire to, not only keep the tickets as reasonable as possible to fit the price point for families, but also to have a generous amount of family friendly events. They have made a conscious effort to create fun family programs with indoor events (similar to the 2010 tents) to keep warm in the midst of our Edmonton winter. However, there will be plenty of ways to embrace the cold all the while, bringing the heat!
All the festivities will be situated within a 4 block radius, close to Commonwealth. So much has already been planned! Over 50 events within 5 days. This is going to be a heck of a party, Edmonton!
